Install the correct bushing for your rifle in the end of the tool body. Screw the firing pin assembly into the bushing, and tighten the threaded, steel shank to compress and capture the mainspring. The hollow shank protects the firing pin tip as it slides over the pin to compress the spring. The crosspin can then be driven out with a punch, and the spring tension relieved by gradually loosening the shank. Includes bushings for remington 700 family and ruger m77 mark ii rifles. Built-in storage slot holds the unused bush mfg: brownells specs: aluminum base, hardcoat anodized, black. Hardened tool steel screw shank and bushings, black oxide finish. This tool fits the 40x, 600, 660, model, 7, xp-100, 700, 721, xr-100 and 722 actions plus the kelbly stolle actions. Does not work for 40x rimfire actions. This tool is designed to pull back and hold the cocking piece as the shroud, pin and spring assembly is unscrewed from the bolt body.
